Movie :: Dunkirk (2017)

Credit:

- Wikipedia

Dunkirk is a 2017 war film written, co-produced, and directed by Christopher Nolan. It features an ensemble cast starring Fionn Whitehead, Tom Glynn-Carney, Jack Lowden, Harry Styles, Aneurin Barnard, James D'Arcy, Barry Keoghan, Kenneth Branagh, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance, and Tom Hardy, and portrays the Dunkirk evacuation of the Second World War. Distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, the film is a co-production between the United Kingdom, the United States, France, and the Netherlands.

Nolan wrote the script, told from three perspectives - land, sea, and air - with little dialogue and intended to create suspense through visuals and music. Filming began in May 2016 in Dunkirk, France, and ended that September in Los Angeles where it began post-production. Cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema shot the film on IMAX 65 mm and 65 mm large format film stock. It made extensive use of practical effects, such as employing thousands of extras, boats that had participated in the historical evacuation, and using era-appropriate planes for the aerial sequences.

Plot:
Three different perspectives with overlapping time periods: one week on land, one day at sea, and one hour in the air, create a non-linear narrative.

An introductory text says that in 1940, after the invasion of France, hundreds of thousands of Allied soldiers had retreated to Dunkirk. As German forces close in, they await evacuation in a seemingly hopeless situation.

I. The Mole
The remains of the East Mole of Dunkirk harbour, pictured in 2009.
Tommy, a young British private, is the sole survivor of an ambush by unseen German soldiers in Dunkirk. At the beach he finds the troops waiting for evacuation. He meets Gibson, who is burying a comrade. After a German dive-bomber attack, they happen upon a man left for dead, and rush his stretcher onto a hospital ship, but are denied passage themselves. The ship is attacked; in the chaos they save another soldier, Alex. At night they depart on another ship, but this is sunk by torpedo. Gibson saves Tommy and Alex and they are taken ashore by a lifeboat, commanded by an officer who would become shell-shocked in the 'Sea' plotline.

Commander Bolton and Colonel Winnant review the situation. The navy is requisitioning civilian vessels that can get closer to the beach.

Alex, Tommy, and Gibson join a group of Scottish soldiers heading for a trawler beyond the Allied perimeter. They hide inside until the tide rises. Its owner, a Dutch mariner returns. Soon after, German troops shoot at the boat for target practice, and when the tide rises, the holes start to let in water. Seeking to reduce weight, Alex accuses Gibson, who has been silent, of being a spy, and demands that he be put off. Gibson reveals he is French, but has stolen the identity of the soldier he buried, hoping to evacuate with the British. The tide floats the boat, but it soon starts to sink. The men abandon ship; 'Gibson' becomes entangled in a chain and drowns. Alex and Tommy swim for a nearby minesweeper, but this is sunk by a bomber. They are rescued from burning oil and taken aboard Moonstone.

They cross the English Channel, and are placed on a train in Weymouth. As it approaches Woking, Alex and Tommy expect public scorn; instead, they receive a hero's welcome. Tommy reads Churchill's address to the nation from a newspaper.

At the beach, Commander Bolton watches the last British soldiers leave. He confirms that 300,000 have been evacuated, compared with the most hopeful initial estimate of 30,000. He stays to oversee the evacuation of the French rearguard.

II. The Sea
In Weymouth, rather than let the navy take his boat Moonstone, Mr. Dawson and his son Peter set out themselves. Their teenage friend George joins them, hoping to do something noteworthy. At sea they rescue a shell-shocked officer from a wrecked ship. When he realises that Dawson is sailing for Dunkirk, he panics and demands they turn back. Intimidated, Peter locks him below. After being let out, the soldier tries to wrest control of the boat; George gets pushed and suffers a severe head injury that causes him to go blind. Dawson continues towards France.

They see a Spitfire ditch, and Dawson steers for it. The pilot, Collins, is trapped inside the jammed canopy, which Peter breaks open. Peter reveals that his elder brother was a Hurricane pilot, killed early in the war.

They encounter a minesweeper under attack from a bomber. Dodging fire from a fighter, they manoeuvre to take on troops, including Alex and Tommy, from the sinking ship. They get clear just before its oil slick is ignited by the bomber as it crashes to sea. Peter tells the men to be careful around George, but Alex finds him already dead. When the shell-shocked officer asks if George is alright, Peter lies, saying that he will be fine.

Back in Weymouth, Dawson is congratulated for all the men he has saved, and the shell-shocked officer sees George's body carried away. Peter gives a photograph of George to the local newspaper, and a front-page article commends him as a hero.

III. The Air
One of the Spitfires repainted for the film.
Three Spitfires, piloted by Farrier, Collins and led by 'Fortis Leader', head towards France, knowing that their flying time is limited by their fuel. They encounter German fighters and Fortis Leader is shot down. Farrier assumes command, and although his fuel gauge is shattered, they press on. They shoot down another plane, but Collins's Spitfire is badly damaged and he ditches. Farrier continues alone.

Farrier sees a bomber attacking a minesweeper near Dawson's yacht. Switching to reserve fuel, he engages it and a fighter overhead. After driving off the fighter, he shoots down the bomber, which crashes and ignites its oil slick.

Farrier reaches Dunkirk, his fuel exhausted, and shoots down a dive bomber while gliding over the beach, to cheers from the troops below. Farrier manages to crank his landing gear down and lands beyond the perimeter. He sets fire to his plane, and is taken prisoner.

Movie -- Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017)

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (also known as Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge) is a 2017 American fantasy comedy swashbuckler film, the fifth installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series and the sequel to On Stranger Tides (2011). The film is directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg from a script by Jeff Nathanson, with Jerry Bruckheimer serving again as producer. Johnny Depp, Kevin McNally and Geoffrey Rush reprise their roles as Jack Sparrow, Joshamee Gibbs and Hector Barbossa, respectively. The film also stars Javier Bardem as Armando Salazar, Brenton Thwaites as Henry Turner and Kaya Scodelario as Carina Smyth. The film also features the returns of Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley as Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann respectively, following their absence from the previous movie, On Stranger Tides.

Plot:
Two years following the post-credits scene of At World's End, 12-year old Henry Turner boards the Flying Dutchman to inform his father, Will Turner, that the mythical Trident of Poseidon is able to break his curse and free him from his ship. Will does not believe the Trident exists and orders Henry to leave his ship and never come back.

Nine years later (and five after the events of On Stranger Tides), Henry works on a British Royal Navy warship. While chasing a pirate ship, Henry realizes the captain is about to sail them into the Devil's Triangle. The captain dismisses his concerns and has Henry locked up for attempting mutiny. As they sail into the Triangle, they come across a shipwreck that quickly comes to life with undead sailors, led by Captain Salazar. The ghost crew board the ship and kill everyone in their path. Henry is confronted by Salazar, who sees a wanted poster for Jack Sparrow in Henry's cell. He allows Henry to live so he can deliver a message to Jack that death is coming his way.
In Saint Martin, a young woman named Carina Smyth has been sentenced to death for witchcraft because of her knowledge of astronomy and horology. She manages to escape her cell and briefly runs into Jack, who is in the process of robbing a bank with his crew. Jack and his crew manage to evade the British Army, yet they realize the vault they stole is empty. Jack's crew abandons him for being unlucky and not delivering any loot. Carina later meets Henry, who has also been sentenced to death for supposedly committing treachery aboard the vessel of the Royal Navy, and tells him she knows of a way to find the Trident. She helps him escape, but gets caught by the British Army.

Feeling depressed after losing his crew's support, Jack goes back to town and inside a local tavern. Having no money to pay for his drink, he reluctantly trades his mystical compass. This causes the Devil's Triangle to crumble and allows Salazar and his crew to sail the seas freely. Soon afterwards, Jack gets caught by the British Army. Before both he and Carina can be executed, Henry helps them escape with help from Jack's crew, and together they sail away on Jack's ship, the Dying Gull. Carina reveals a map that will lead them to the Trident, and reluctantly decides to team up with Henry and Jack in order to achieve their goals; Carina and Henry grow closer as their adventure progresses. Salazar and his crew are roaming the seas and destroying ships in Captain Barbossa's fleet in their search for Jack. Barbossa decides to meet Salazar and offers to help find Jack in exchange for sparing his fleet. Salazar explains to Barbossa how he and his crew once sailed the seas to kill every pirate. They were undefeated until they ran into a young Jack Sparrow, who tricked them into sailing into the Devil's Triangle, where Salazar and his crew died and were cursed to remain undead. Jack's mystical compass was the key to freeing them from the Devil's Triangle; letting go of its ownership would unleash the owner's worst fear.

When Salazar's ship finds the Dying Gull, Jack, Henry and Carina escape on a rowboat while the crew remains on board to cause a distraction. Salazar and his crew chase Jack, but upon arriving at a small island, Jack realizes Salazar's ghost crew can't step on land. Barbossa arrives at the island and decides to help Jack; he breaks the Black Pearl out of the bottle and returns it to its original size. With Jack's compass, which he had managed to locate, Barbossa takes command of the ship and lets Carina navigate them to the island. During this time, both Jack and Barbossa realize that Carina is Barbossa's long lost daughter. Barbossa tells Jack that he left her at an orphanage with his diary to make sure she lived a better life, never imagining that he would see her again.

Shortly after, they narrowly avoid being attacked by a British Navy's warship, which is destroyed by Salazar's ship. Jack's crew then battles Salazar's men. During the fight, they arrive at the Trident's location, a small uncharted island, and Henry is captured by Salazar. Jack and Carina fall down a cliff after she activates a path to the Trident, which is hidden on the ocean floor. Salazar possesses Henry to walk on dry land, allowing Salazar to seize the Trident and fight Jack, impaling him with the weapon. Henry, now free of Salazar, realizes that destroying the Trident will break all curses upon the sea. He destroys the Trident before Salazar could deliver the final blow, returning Salazar and his crew to the living. As the divided sea caves in, Barbossa helps Jack, Henry, and Carina as they're pulled up to safety by the anchor of the Black Pearl. Still intent on killing Jack, Salazar grabs onto the anchor. Carina then notices a tattoo on Barbossa's arm, matching an image on the cover of the diary, and realizes her relation to him. After proclaiming his admiration for her, Barbossa sacrifices himself to take down Salazar and his crew, ensuring safety for his daughter and the others. Aboard the Black Pearl, Carina declares to Henry that her last name is no longer Smyth, but Barbossa.

Some time later, Henry is joined by Carina as they watch his father finally set foot on land again, no longer bound to the Flying Dutchman. As Henry and Carina declare their love with a kiss, Will is reunited with his wife Elizabeth. Watching from the deck of the Pearl, Jack (joined by Jack the Monkey) sails away with his crew, opening up his mystical compass to reveal their next heading.
In a post-credits scene, Will and Elizabeth are asleep when their bedroom is entered by a silhouette of Davy Jones. Will awakens and assumes this to be a nightmare, oblivious to the presence of barnacles on the floor.

Movie :: Rogue One Star Wars (2016)

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (or simply Rogue One) is a 2016 American epic space opera film directed by Gareth Edwards and written by Chris Weitz and Tony Gilroy, from a story by John Knoll and Gary Whitta. It is the first stand-alone film in the Star Wars Anthology series. Rogue One stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker, and follows Jyn Erso, the daughter of the unwilling designer of the Galactic Empire's superweapon, the Death Star, and her quest to retrieve his plans for destroying it.

Produced by Lucasfilm and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, the film is chronologically set after the events of Revenge of the Sith and immediately before the events of A New Hope. Principal photography began at Elstree Studios near London during early August 2015 and wrapped in February 2016, with reshoots and additional filming taking place in mid-June 2016. Rogue One premiered in Los Angeles on December 10, 2016, and was released to the rest of the United States on December 16, 2016.

Plot:
Research scientist Galen Erso is in hiding on Lah'mu when Imperial weapons developer Orson Krennic arrives to force Galen to return to work on the unfinished Death Star, a space station-based superweapon capable of destroying entire planets. Galen is taken into custody and his wife Lyra is killed in the ensuing confrontation, but their daughter Jyn escapes and is taken to safety by Rebel extremist Saw Gerrera.

Fifteen years later, pilot Bodhi Rook defects from the Empire, smuggling a holographic message from Galen to Gerrera on the moon of Jedha. Meanwhile, Jyn is freed from Imperial captivity by the Rebels on Wobani, who plan to use her to track down her father. However, General Draven orders Rebel intelligence officer Cassian Andor to kill Galen rather than extract him.

Jyn, Andor, and reprogrammed Imperial droid K-2SO travel to Jedha, where the Empire is mining Kyber crystals to power the superweapon; Gerrera and his partisans are engaged in an armed insurgency against them. With the aid of blind warrior Chirrut Îmwe and mercenary Baze Malbus, Jyn makes contact with Gerrera, who is holding Rook captive. Gerrera shows her the hologram in which her father explains that he has secretly compromised the Death Star's reactor design, directing them to find the plans at an Imperial high-security data bank on the planet Scarif.

Grand Moff Tarkin meets with Krennic on the Death Star and expresses skepticism about the project and its management. As a demonstration, Krennic uses a low-powered shot to destroy Jedha's capital and crush the insurgency, forcing Jyn and her group to flee while Gerrera elects to remain behind and die. Tarkin uses security breaches under Krennic's command as a pretext to take control of the project. Krennic meets with Darth Vader to seek his and Emperor Palpatine's support, but Vader dismisses his suggestions.

The Rebels track Galen to an Imperial research facility on the planet Eadu, where Cassian chooses not to assassinate Galen. Confronted by Krennic and his troops, Galen admits responsibility for the leaked information. A Rebel bombing raid begins before Jyn can attempt a rescue and Galen dies in his daughter's arms. The Rebels escape in a stolen Imperial cargo shuttle.

Jyn proposes a plan to steal the Death Star schematics from Scarif, but the Rebel council is split and cannot agree on a plan. Frustrated at their inaction, Jyn, Cassian, K-2SO, Îmwe, Malbus, Rook and several Rebels decide to use the stolen Imperial shuttle to raid the data bank. They arrive on Scarif where Jyn and Cassian disguise themselves as Imperial officers and search for the plans, while the other Rebels mount an attack on the resident Imperial garrison. Rook contacts the Rebel Alliance fleet which soon arrives to take down the shield surrounding the planet. K-2SO is destroyed holding off Stormtroopers, allowing Jyn and Cassian to retrieve the Death Star plans from the data vaults. Rook, Îmwe, Malbus, and most of the Rebel ground troops are killed in the battle. Krennic confronts Jyn, declaring the Empire's victory. Cassian shoots him, enabling Jyn to transmit the Death Star plans to the Rebel command ship. Tarkin fires the Death Star to destroy the compromised base. Krennic dies in the blast while Jyn and Cassian embrace before being killed by the ensuing shock wave.

As the Rebel fleet retreats, an Imperial fleet led by Vader arrives. He boards the Rebel command ship to retrieve the plans, only to watch a small starship escape with them. Aboard the fleeing ship, Princess Leia declares that the plans will provide hope for the Rebellion.

Movie :: Central intelligence (2016)

- Wikipedia

Central Intelligence is a 2016 American action comedy film directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber and written by Thurber, Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen. The film stars Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart as two old high school friends who team up to save the world after one of them joins the CIA.

Plot:
In 1996, Calvin Joyner is being recognized for an award at the last high school pep rally. Meanwhile, Robbie Weirdicht, an overweight kid with no friends, gets carried out of the boys' locker room while showering by school bullies and is then thrown into the gym during the pep rally just as Calvin is receiving his award and is laughed upon his nude entrance. Calvin immediately takes off his jacket and gives it to Robbie who thanks Calvin and leaves the school.

Twenty years later, Calvin has married his high school sweetheart, Maggie, and works as an accountant. He is highly unsatisfied with his life as he is passed over for a promotion that was given to his former assistant. Maggie, however, is a partner at her law firm and is quite happy. She suggests they see a therapist to work on their marriage issues. Calvin does not want to go to their 20 year high school reunion taking place the next day. At the same time, Calvin receives a Facebook friend request from Bob Stone (actually Robbie, who has changed his name). They meet for drinks at a local pub. While at the pub, the pair gets into an argument with bullies who try to take Bob's chair. Bob takes out the bullies and then leaves with Calvin. Bob suggests the pair go back to their old high school and have Calvin reminisce about his glory days. Instead, Calvin is disappointed that he peaked in high school, and that his life has been declining since.

As Bob drops Calvin off at his house, he asks Calvin to look at some accounting records, saying he is having payroll issues. Bob's "accounting records" are actually satellite codes. Bob ends up spending the night on Calvin's couch. The next morning, the CIA, led by Pam, comes to Calvin's house in search of Bob. Calvin leads them to the living room where there is no evidence of Bob's presence. Pam informs Calvin that Bob is a dangerous rogue agent that killed his former partner, Phil, to obtain all U.S. satellite codes with the intention of selling them to the highest bidder.

As the CIA agents follow Calvin to his office, Bob successfully abducts Calvin, while explaining that he is trying to stop the "Black Badger" from selling the satellite codes, but needs Calvin's skills as a forensic accountant to figure out the exact location where the deal will happen. The pair is then attacked by Larry (a former CIA agent turned bounty hunter). During the attack, Calvin runs away but is intercepted by Pam. Pam informs Calvin that Bob is delusional and the "Black Badger" doesn't exist. She gives Calvin a device that will alert the CIA to his whereabouts when he is reunited with Bob. Calvin then goes to marriage counseling where Bob is posing as the marriage counselor (the real counselor he has tied up, gagged and stashed in the office closet). Bob convinces Calvin to help him and Calvin sets up a meeting with Trevor (one of Bob's bullies) so they can obtain the account number that reveals the location of the deal. Trevor helps them, but not before bullying Bob again by pretending to apologize for the past and then calling him fat. Calvin encourages Bob to punch out Trevor just like he did to the bullies at the bar, but Bob freezes up. As they are leaving Trevor's office, Pam calls Calvin and threatens to arrest Maggie if he doesn't turn Bob in. Calvin betrays Bob and Bob is arrested.

As Bob is being tortured by Pam, as she believes that he has the satellite codes, Calvin decides to help Bob. He successfully breaks him out and the two get away. Calvin figures out the location of the deal is in Boston and Bob steals a golden plane. As the pair arrive in a park at Boston, Calvin deduces that the deal must be going down in an underground parking garage, as it wouldn't be out in the open. Bob tells Calvin to stay in the park and enters the garage alone. However, Pam shows up, and Calvin mistakenly believes her to be the Black Badger and runs into the garage where Bob is posing as the Black Badger while meeting the buyer. Bob shoots Calvin, grazing his neck and knocking him backwards out of the room (which puts him out of the action, therefore saving his life). Bob's former partner Phil reveals himself to still be alive and claims to be the real Black Badger. While both Bob and Phil try to convince the buyer that they are the real Black Badger, each with a USB containing the satellite codes, the CIA arrives and a shootout commences. Calvin steals both sets of satellite codes and runs upstairs back into the park where he is intercepted by both Bob and Phil. As Bob and Phil engage in hand-to-hand combat, Calvin, not knowing whom to trust, closes his eyes and fires a shot that hits Bob in the butt. After Phil knocks Bob out, Phil reveals that Phil is the Black Badger and is about to shoot Calvin. Bob tackles Phil and kills him by ripping his throat out. Bob believes that Calvin shot him as part of a plan to trick Phil into confessing. Calvin goes along with it.

The pair arrive at the high school reunion in a CIA helicopter where Maggie spots them. She questions Calvin about his weird behavior and why he is with the marriage counselor. Bob properly introduces himself and explains the truth. As the three enter the gym where the reunion is held, Bob is having second thoughts since he didn't have any other friends in high school. Calvin convinces him to stay where he is, as he is about to be announced as the Homecoming King. Calvin reveals to Maggie that he hacked the voting systems and made Bob the king. As Bob is walking to the stage to accept his position, Trevor steps in his way and attempts to start bullying him again. Bob knocks Trevor unconscious with one punch and goes on stage where he re-lives his most embarrassing moment by taking off all his clothes. This time, however, he is full of confidence. As he walks off stage, he spots his high school crush, Darla, and the two share a kiss.

In the closing scene, it is shown that Calvin has joined the CIA and as a gift for his first day on the job, Bob gives him back the Golden Jet jacket that Calvin gave him back in high school.

Deadpool is a 2016 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. It is the eighth installment of the X-Men film series. It is directed by Tim Miller. Written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the film stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T. J. Miller, Gina Carano, Leslie Uggams, Brianna Hildebrand and Stefan Kapičić. In Deadpool, Wade Wilson hunts the man who gave him an accelerated healing factor but also a scarred physical appearance.

PLOT
Wade Wilson is a former special forces operative who works as a mercenary in New York City. He meets escort Vanessa Carlysle at a local bar and they become romantically attached. One year later, Wade proposes to her and she accepts, but he suddenly collapses. Wade is diagnosed with terminal cancer and though Vanessa remains by his side, he does not want her to watch him die.

A mysterious recruiter from a secret program approaches Wade, offering an experimental cure for his cancer. Although Wade initially refuses, he decides to leave Vanessa and undergo the procedure. At a laboratory, Wade meets Ajax and Angel Dust, whom he instantly resents. Ajax injects Wade with a serum designed to awaken latent mutant genes, then has him subjected to days of torture to induce stress and trigger the mutation, but without success. Wade discovers Ajax's real name, Francis Freeman, and mocks him for it. In response, Ajax straps Wade into an airtight chamber which raises and lowers the oxygen level to keep Wade constantly on the verge of asphyxiation - leaving him over the weekend but not before Ajax reveals to Wade their true purpose: to make super-powered slaves to be sold to wealthy customers. While inside the chamber, Wade develops a healing factor that cures his cancer but leaves him severely disfigured with burn like scars over his entire body as a side-effect. He escapes from the chamber and attacks Ajax, but relents when told that his disfigurement can be cured. Ajax subdues Wade, impales him with a rebar and leaves him for dead in the burning laboratory.

Wade survives the ordeal and attempts to return to Vanessa, but is afraid of her suffering because of his appearance, and stays away from her. After consulting his best friend Weasel, Wade decides to hunt down Ajax and have his disfigurement cured. He becomes a masked vigilante, takes the alias "Deadpool", and moves into the home of an elderly blind woman named Blind Al. Following a string of leads, Wade tracks down Ajax to a convoy of cars on an expressway. He kills all the escorts, corners Ajax and demands a cure to his disfigurement. The confrontation is interrupted by two X-Men, Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead, who have been trying to recruit Wade to join the X-Men. Taking advantage of the distraction, Ajax escapes. Colossus handcuffs Wade to his wrist and begins dragging him away, planning to take him to Charles Xavier / Professor X back at the X-Mansion. Wade cuts off his hand and escapes. His hand slowly regenerates overnight.

Ajax goes to Weasel's bar and learns about Vanessa. Weasel calls Wade and tells him Vanessa is in danger. Wade goes to the strip club where she works but hesitates before he can face her. In response, Ajax kidnaps Vanessa. He and Angel Dust tell Wade to meet them on a decommissioned helicarrier in a scrapyard.

Wade convinces Colossus and Negasonic to help him, and the trio take a cab to the scrapyard. While Colossus and Negasonic battle Angel and several soldiers, Wade fights his way through Ajax's henchmen, and eventually engages him in a lengthy bloody and violent fight. After Angel defeats Colossus, Negasonic attacks her, but accidentally destroys the equipment holding the helicarrier upright. As the helicarrier tips over, Colossus carries Negasonic and Angel to safety, while Wade saves Vanessa. Ajax survives and attacks Wade, but is subdued and reveals there is no cure for Wade's disfigurement. Despite objections from Colossus, who wants Wade to spare his enemy's life, Wade refuses to listen him and kills Ajax. Vanessa is angered that Wade left her, but still loves him. The two reconcile and kiss.

In a post-credits scene, Wade tells the audience that the film is over and announces a sequel featuring Cable.

Movie :: Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation (2015)

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation is a 2015 American action spy film written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie. It is the fifth installment in the Mission: Impossible series and was preceded by Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011). The film stars Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Ving Rhames, Sean Harris, and Alec Baldwin with Cruise, Renner, Pegg, and Rhames reprising their roles from previous films. Rogue Nation is produced by Cruise, J. J. Abrams, and David Ellison of Skydance Productions. In the film, IMF Agent Ethan Hunt (Cruise) is on the run from the U.S. government as he tries to prove the existence of the Syndicate, an international criminal consortium.

After intercepting nerve gas being sold to terrorists, Impossible Mission Force agent Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is convinced he can prove the existence of the Syndicate, an international criminal consortium. Reporting to an IMF substation to receive his next orders, Hunt is captured by the Syndicate, but escapes a torture chamber led by Syndicate member Janik "Bone Doctor" Vinter (Jens Hultén) with the help of disavowed MI6 agent and Syndicate operative Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson). Meanwhile, CIA director Alan Hunley (Alec Baldwin) and IMF agent William Brandt (Jeremy Renner) appear before a committee of Senators and Hunley succeeds in having the IMF disbanded and absorbed into the CIA, guaranteeing that Hunt will be captured within the day. Cut off from the IMF, Hunt starts following his only lead: a blonde man in glasses, later identified as Solomon Lane (Sean Harris).

Six months later, Hunt remains on the run. Unable to find the Syndicate without help, he enlists former colleague Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg), arranging for him to attend the opera Turandot in Vienna to search for Lane, whom he suspects is the Syndicate's leader. Despite stopping three shooters including Faust, the Austrian Chancellor is killed by a car bomb.

Brandt recruits former agent Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames) to find Hunt and prevent Hunley's team from killing him. Using a likeness of Faust left by Hunt, Brandt and Stickell are able to track Hunt, Dunn, and Faust to Morocco, where the three are infiltrating a secure underwater server beneath a power station. After having stolen what they believe to be a ledger containing the names of all Syndicate agents, Faust takes the drive and a chase ensues involving Ethan, his group, the Syndicate members, and Faust. Faust escapes, but Dunn reveals he had already made a copy of the data.

Faust returns to London, and attempts to pass the file to her handler, Attlee (Simon McBurney), who compels her to return to the Syndicate and finish her mission. She returns to Lane, only to find that Attlee has wiped the drive, which in fact contained an encrypted, British-government “red box” that requires the Prime Minister's biometrics in order to be unlocked. The former IMF agents confront Faust, but when Lane's men abduct Dunn, they are told they must deliver a decrypted copy of the drive to Lane. Despite the objections of the others, Hunt realizes Lane will always have a plan to acquire the files; believing the only certain way to stop him is to confront him, Hunt agrees to the ultimatum.

Brandt contacts Hunley and reveals their location. At a charity auction, the two try to prevent Hunt from attacking the Prime Minister, whom they and Attlee take to a secure room. Hunt, having posed as Attlee, reveals himself and has the Prime Minister confirm the existence of the Syndicate, a classified project to perform missions without oversight, though the Prime Minister said he had ordered the project canceled before it could leave the planning stages, as he considered it to be too extreme. When the real Attlee arrives, Hunt subdues him and he admits that he had been covering up the existence of the Syndicate since Lane hijacked the project and went rogue.

Stickell discovers the file actually contains access to billions in currency. Hunt destroys the file and tells Lane he memorized the data, in order to force Lane to release Dunn and Faust in exchange for what he knows. Dunn escapes to Stickell and Brandt while Ethan and Faust are chased by Vinter and his men across the streets of London where they are separated. Faust kills Vinter in a knife fight while Ethan draws Lane into the open and lures him into a tunnel system revealed to be a bulletproof cell where he is gassed, just as he had gassed Hunt to capture him initially, and taken into custody.

Sometime later, Hunley and Brandt return to the oversight committee, where Hunley secures the reinstatement of the IMF, claiming that his previous efforts to have it disbanded were all to allow Hunt to go undercover. The committee, though skeptical, approves, and outside the chambers, Brandt addresses Hunley as "Mr. Secretary".

If you didn't watch the previous MI, then maybe you will a little confuse in the begining.

Movie :: Ant Man (2015)

Credit: Wikipedia

In 1989, scientist Hank Pym resigns from S.H.I.E.L.D. after discovering that they attempted to replicate his Ant-Man shrinking technology. Believing the technology is dangerous, Pym vows to hide it as long as he lives. In the present day, Pym's estranged daughter, Hope van Dyne, and former protégé, Darren Cross, have forced him out of his own company. Cross is close to perfecting a shrinking suit of his own, the Yellowjacket, which horrifies Pym.

Upon his release from prison, well-meaning thief Scott Lang moves in with his old cellmate, Luis. Lang's ex-wife, Maggie—engaged to policeman Paxton—agrees to let Lang see his daughter Cassie if he provides child support. Unable to hold a job because of his criminal record, Lang agrees to join Luis' crew and commit a burglary for money. Lang breaks into a house and cracks its safe, but only finds what he believes to be an old motorcycle suit, which he takes home. After trying the suit on, Lang accidentally shrinks himself to the size of an insect. Terrified by the experience, he returns the suit to the house, but is arrested on the way out. Pym, the homeowner, visits Lang in jail and smuggles the suit into his cell to help him break out.

At his home, Pym, who manipulated Lang through Luis into stealing the suit as a test, wants Lang to become the new Ant-Man to steal the Yellowjacket from Cross. Van Dyne, who has been spying on Cross for Pym despite her strained relationship with her father, helps Pym train Lang to fight and to control ants. They send him to steal a device from the Avengers' headquarters, where he briefly fights Sam Wilson. While van Dyne still shows anger towards Pym about her mother Janet's death, he reveals that Janet, known as the Wasp, disappeared into a subatomic quantum realm to disable a Soviet nuclear missile. Pym warns Lang that he could suffer a similar fate if he overrides his suit's regulator.

Cross perfects the Yellowjacket and hosts an unveiling ceremony at his headquarters. Lang, along with his crew and a swarm of flying ants, infiltrates the building during the event, sabotages the company's servers, and plants explosives. When he attempts to steal the Yellowjacket, he is captured by Cross, who intends to sell both the Yellowjacket and Ant-Man suits to Hydra, led by Mitchell Carson. Lang breaks free and dispatches most of the Hydra agents, though Carson is able to flee with a vial of Cross' particles. Lang pursues Cross as he escapes, while the explosives detonate, imploding the building.

Cross dons the Yellowjacket and attacks Lang before Lang is arrested by Paxton. His mind addled by the imperfect shrinking technology, Cross takes Cassie hostage to lure Lang into another fight. Lang overrides the regulator and shrinks to subatomic size to penetrate Cross' suit and sabotage it to shrink uncontrollably, killing Cross. Lang disappears into the quantum realm but manages to reverse the effects and returns to the macroscopic world. In gratitude for Lang's heroism, Paxton covers for Lang to keep him out of prison. Seeing that Lang survived and returned from the quantum realm, Pym wonders if his wife is alive as well. Later, Lang meets up with Luis, who tells him that Wilson is looking for him.

In a mid-credits scene, Pym shows van Dyne a new Wasp prototype suit and offers it to her. In a post-credits scene, Wilson and Steve Rogers have Bucky Barnes in their custody. Unable to contact Tony Stark because of "the accords", Wilson mentions that he "know[s] a guy".
