Genting Highland & i-City Shah Alam, the city of Digital Light :: Family Trip to Kuala Lumpur - Johor > Malaysia -- Day 3, 7th July 2016

Today, is our last day at Kuala Lumpur. At 9 o'clock, our rental car is coming to pick us, and drop us at i-City Shah Alam. We will stay at Best Western i-City, the only hotel that located inside i-City Shah Alam.

If you didn't rent a car, here's how to go there.

Actually, it's better if we are not too early to go there, because check-in time is 14:00, and the area still closing. It will open at 12:00 noon.

So, after we arrive at i-City, I try to ask about rent car to Berjaya Hills via hotel. And the receptionist give me MYR 750 for 6 hours.

Because we don't have much choice, beside we still can't enter the room, so we accept the offer. And, it turns out that our car is luxury one, Alphard. (need driver phone number, comment below).

The driver sugges if we go to Genting Highland than Berjaya Hills. And we aggreed. And it take almost 2 hours to go there because of trafic. On the way there, the driver take us to Chocolate Galery. And we buy some.

Arrive at Genting at 12:00, and because it's holiday, it's too many people in Genting. Even when we want to eat lunch, we have to queue almost 1 hours. The food court is so small.

The outdoor theme park has been renovating, so we only play inside. If you want to ride cable car, you can but it's foggy outside.

Maybe, I will come here again when the outdoor theme park has re-opened and stay here.

Then at 15:00, we go back to i-City Shah Alam.

We bought KFC and there's so many people, so we decided to take away. Then we rest for a while.

Credit: Internet Search i-city theme park map

At 19:30, we go outside, and our first destination is Snowalk.

In i-City Shah Alam, it's free to enter the theme park. But when you want to enter the game, you have to pay. And it is using i-city card.

If you still don't have the card, you can purchase it in locket. The locket is everywhere, near the game. The card cost MYR 10 (MYR 2 for the card, and has balance MYR 8).

The price to enter the game is different. I forgot the other game, but snowalk cost MYR 20 for adult (there's special price for senior (more than 60) and child).

So I top up MYR 240.

When you enter the Snowalk, they will deduct the balance in the card. And then you can borrow winter jacket for free.

It's beautiful, and I hear that It's the largest snow theme park in Malaysia. Inside, there's so many ice sclupture with different lighting, just like if you go to Ha'er Bin, China. It's minus 5 degree inside, so if you want, you can bring your muffler or other warm clothes.

After we walk around, then we decided to end the journey to snowalk. Then we walk around outside. We wants to enter City of Digital Light, but it's so crowded, and a little expensive (MYR 35/pax). I thought it's only MYR 10/pax. So we just walk around.

Then we take a rest...

Kuala Lumpur City Tour :: Family Trip to Kuala Lumpur - Johor > Malaysia -- Day 2, 6th July 2016

Good Morning. It's an simple trip, so we woke up at 7.00. Then we go to Hotel's side to eat breakfast. I didn't booked room with breakfast because the breakfast at hotel cost MYR 23/person. There's a small restaurant beside the hotel, it called Instant Restaurant with owner from Indonesia. It's cheap and has various meal.

My favourite is Pork noodle. My dad buy Hakka Noodle, and my mom buy Chicken Poridge. Our breakfast only cost MYR 71 (for 8 people).

See more about Instant Restaurant: Here

Today we go buy subway. First destination is Batu Cave.

From hotel, just follow the path beside Low Yat Plaza and Federal Hotel, and you will found Imbi Station.

From Imbi Station, we have to go to KL Sentral first, then change line to Batu Cave.

There's no connection between Monorail Line (Imbi Station) to Batu Cave (KTM Komuter Sentul-Port Klang). So we have to walk and looking for the right entrance.

The KTM Komuter machine is due contruction, so we enter by manual. There's people who guard there, and ask for the ticket. You can buy the ticket at locket.

From Imbi Station to KL Sentral cost MYR 3,1/person
From KL Sentral to Batu Cave cost MYR 2,6/person

There's only 1 exit at Batu Cave, and it goes directly to Batu Cave area.
It's really large, and there's so many people in there. When I go there, there's wedding ceremony that being held.

The Temple

Then we walk further, and will found the cave. There's a big square with 272 steps to climb if you fit enough and big Murugan Statue.

The birds is coming
If you want to go to toilet, you have to pay for MYR 0,5 (or 5 cent).
Then we climb the 272 steps.

After arrive the peak, there's a big cave inside and there's a stairs again but not too much, to go to the temple. Some local people, climb the stairs without sandals / shoes. You have to wear trousers and not revealing clothes to climb the stairs, if not, you have to buy sharong.

view from the peak

inside the cave, after climb 272 steps

the stone cave
From Batu Cave, we go back to KL Sentral. The KTM Komuter here has rule, the coach number 3 and 4 is special for women, and no man could enter.

Batu Cave to KL Sentral : MYR 2,6/person

Then our next destination is Masjid Jamek. So we go to Masjid Jamek Station (Kelana Jaya Line, pink line), Gombak Direction.

KL Sentral to Masjid Jamek : MYR 1,54/person

Before explore more place, we go to Central Market first to eat lunch. Exit the station, just turn right, and go straight. You will pass a square. And it's really crowded, a lot of people here, I think there's something going on in here, like performance or any events.

It took about 10 minutes to walk to Central Market / Pasar Seni. The food court is at 2nd floor. There's a lot of various stand than the food court inside Dataran Merdeka.

See More about Central Market: Here

After lunch, we go to Merdeka Square / Dataran Merdeka. Just go back where you come from, then on the square, after cross the road, turn left. Walk along the road, you will arrive at Merdeka Square. On the way there, you will see Masjid Jamek.

See More about Masjid Jamek & Merdeka Square: Here

Then after take some photos, we go back to Masjid Jamek Station. We will go back to Hotel first, to pick up my other brother and his family. So, we buy metro ticket to Imbi Station, because it's connecting.

We go to Masjid Jamek Station with Line Yellow (Ampang Line), because we will go to Hang Tuah Station. From Hang Tuah Station, we transfer to Monorail line Green, to Titiwangsa direction and stop by Imbi Station.

From Masjid Jamek Station to Imbi Station : MYR 1,7/person.

After pick up my brother and his family, our next destination is Aquaria KLCC. I plan to walk along the skybridge that connect between Bukit Bintang and KLCC. The sky bridge located in the back side of Pavilion Mall. Enter the Pavilion Mall, then turn left, just walk along until there's a side door on the left, which there's so many restaurant outside. Go outside, and turn right, just walk along, and you will find the skybridge.

It's really convenient. We won't feel hot because there's AC in there. And the end of skybridge just right in front of KLCC Convenient Centre which Aquaria KLCC located. Enter the building right next the escalator, and go down 1 level.

I have predicted wrong, and it's holiday at Kuala Lumpur. So the queue to entering Aquaria KLCC, is very very long. I need almost 30 minutes to queue to get the ticket. And it's not a pleasurable things. My mood has gone because too crowded.

The entrance ticket to Aquaria KLCC is a little expensive (I think). Adult ticket is MYR 64/person, and Child / Senior (above 60 years old) is MYR 43/person. (increase from last year)

You only hold this ticket for less than 5 minutes. Once you enter the area, they will took it. So I manage to took picture of the ticket.

See more about Aquaria KLCC: Here

From Aquaria KLCC, we go to Suria KLCC Mall to eat dinner. Just walk along the path when you  come out from Aquaria KLCC (food court), then up 1 floor. You will arrive at KLCC Park. And walk along the park to Suria KLCC Mall, and Petronas Twin Tower.

Once again, my mood is gone, because the park and the food court is too crowded. It's holiday, so many people come here. And KLCC is become one place that they happen to visit. It's hard to looking for the table at food court. And once we got the table, we still have to queue to buy the food.

It's better if you come here when not holiday.

It cost approximately MYR 10/person to eat at Suria KLCC Foodcourt.

Then we go to KLCC Park to see the night.

Even when we want to see the musical fountain show, we can't see anything. Everywhere is people. And the song is not too clear.

Then we go back using skybridge again, because if we using subway, then we have to go around. And it took about 40 minutes to go by subway, and only 10-15 minutes walk.

Rent a Car at Malaysia with Jalan Jajan Hemat

Because this time, I go to Malaysia with other 8 people (7 adult and 1 baby), so I decided it's convenient if we rent car and driver.

I browse through internet, and found one blog. The travel agent name is Jalan Jajan Hemat, located at Jakarta, Indonesia.

If you need a car in Malaysia / Singapore, you can contact Jalan Jajan Hemat (JJH), via email: sales@jalanjajanhemat.com.  Mrs Katherina will gladly reply you as soon as possible. Just don't forget to give detail of your trip plan so JJH could help you arrange the transportation. Or if you still didn't know where to go, you can ask JJH to arrange a tour for you.

I think their price is reasonable. Because I found another travel agent, is more expensive than JJH.

Once you confirm your booking and make a payment, then they will ask the name of the voucher (same with passport), and your phone number that you bring to Malaysia and send you the voucher via email.

I print the voucher 3 times, because I use the service for 3 different days, and I'm afraid they will ask for it each day.

1/2 days before the day, Mrs Katherina will give you detail about the driver and their phone and vehicle number that you will use. And how you will meet them.

I recomended this travel agent, if you want to rent a car for group at Malaysia / Singapore. I think they have the best service and driver. The driver is really kind, and nice. They help us if we need information.

All the price has already include petrol, toll, parking fee, and driver's fee. But we have to give tip for the driver.

Depart to Kuala Lumpur :: Family Trip to Kuala Lumpur - Johor > Malaysia -- Day 1, 5th July 2016

This year, I manage trip to my family and my uncle. We are 8 adults and 1 baby, manage to go together to Malaysia. Our destination is Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru.

With Airasia promotion ticket, we got the cheapest flight ticket from Yogyakarta to Kuala Lumpur.

My little brother and his wife has already started their trip yesterday.

Our flight is at 11:45, but we decided to go to the airport at 07:00. This July, is Lebaran holiday and also School Holiday. We go 1 day before the day, so we are afraid if there's a traffic.

And, we arrived at Yogyakarta at 08:15, and there's no traffic. Maybe we go when it's morning, so people still sleeping haha...

Airasia flight from Yogyakarta, will depart from Terminal B. The location of terminal B at Adisucipto International Airport is about 500m from Terminal A. If you drop by Damri / at Terminal A, you have to walk along the coridor near the arrival hall, then turn left. There's a small path that leading to Terminal B.

If you go there by car / taxi, you can ask the driver to drop-off at Terminal B hall. But you have to pay IDR 4.000 to drop-off only, or if you want to park, then you have to pay IDR 30.000. This is a little expensive, but I heard that with IDR 30.000 you can park all you want to.

The terminal itself is new, and looks nice. There's Airasia (domestic and international), Sriwijaya Air (Domestic), and Silk Air (International).

Because we arrive early, we have to wait until 09:00 to drop-off baggage because the counter will opened 3 hours before departure. Remember, Airasia required self check-in. There's self check-in kiosk in there.

After drop the baggage, we proceed to domestic waiting room. Yes, the imigration is inside the domestic waiting hall. There's some restaurant in there, snack corner and also souvenir shop. Because the imigration open at 11:00, so we wait in there. And, inside the international waiting hall(after you passed the imigration process), there's no restaurant or snack shop, so it's better if we wait at the domestic waiting hall.

Domestic Waiting Hall -- you can see the sign of International Waiting hall, the imigration process is inside there

snack shop and lounge  at domestic waiting hall

There's also Kids corner, which kids can play Lego while waiting for boarding.

Then at 11:00, we go to International Waiting Hall. First we proceed to Imigration, then we enter the waiting hall.

International Waiting Hall
Then at 11:15, we boarding. We should depart at 11:45, but at 11:30, we already depart. And we arrive at KLIA 2, at 14:45, 30 minutes earlier than the determined time (15:15).

After we passed the imigration and get our luggage, we go to Entrance 2. Our driver has already waiting in the parking lot. I just need to call him.

I rent a car with driver from Jalan Jajan Hemat. (How to rent a car with Jalan Jajan Hemat, click here - on process). Our driver is Mr Nazri, and he is really kind.

It took 45 minutes to go to Bukit Bintang. We stay at Hotel Capitol Bukit Bintang. I booked via Agoda because I have Agoda Point. I have stayed in this hotel before and I really like it, near everywhere. And because I brought my parents and my uncle, so I decided to stay in here again. It's a little expensive for backpacker tripper. But for family, I think it's enough.

Then after we put our luggage, we decided to go to dinner first. I want to try Meng Kee Grill Fish, because there's so many people recommended it at internet. We go to Alor Street, it's really near with the Hotel, only walk 5 minutes thourg small path near MRT construction.

Fortunately, there's not many people in Alor Street because I think it's still early. We order 5 meals. We choose medium size, because we are 8 people. You can choose the size according your needed.

Grilled Shrimp with black pepper for MYR 40

Gilled Chicken Fish for MYR 50 (abou 800 gram)

Bak Cam Kee for MYR 25

Pare Tofu Soup for MYR 15
and another food, it's vegetables for MYR 15. Total cost MYR 183,38 with rice (MYR 12, 8 portion) and drink (MYR 16, tea) and GST 6%: MYR10,38. The waitress is chinese, and I thought I could speak chinese. But their chinese has dialec and it's hard to understand them. They only could speak Malay a little.

After eating, then we go to Berjaya Times Square to shopping. Around 20:30, we decided to go back to hotel.

Don't forget to bought some mineral water, beside the hotel, there's 7-11 convenient store.
